Home cooked meals were always on trend at our Louisiana household during my childhood. Coming from a family of 7, not only was eating out not an affordable option, but also the food at home was so delicious we rarely thought about eating out,
other than picking up an occasional burger.
The first thing Momma did when she got home from work was head to the kitchen to prepare dinner. Veggies were aplenty. Sometimes the purple hull peas, squash, okra and tomatoes came from our small garden in the back yard. Meats were seasoned well, yielding mouthwatering dinners. In fact, we shared a meal at the dinner table every weeknight. Sunday dinners after church were the culinary highlight of the week, with a larger spread of tasty options. Our menu usually consisted of traditional Southern dishes and local favorites. This tradition lives on in my kitchen - globally inspired, with a Louisiana accent. We recognize sit down meals are no longer the norm in many modern families. Mrs. Magnolia's hopes to change that by preparing familiar and unique gourmet dishes using the healthiest ingredients, the greatest of which is love.
